Yoga For Everyone!
Tonic Presents OmT.O. 2016
Last year, on June 21st, over three thousand people from all across the GTA converged on the Distillery District for OmT.O. It was a yogic celebration of the longest day of the year. They’ll be at it again as Tonic Magazine is proud to present OmT.O. 2016 on Sunday June 19th, from 9:00 am. to 5:00 pm. at the Distillery District. Come join us and take any or all of nine free, specially themed, 40 minute yoga classes taught by the most popular and dynamic instructors from the top yoga studios in the city. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced yogi, you’ll be sure to enjoy these uplifting energetic classes. All you need to bring is your yoga mat and your good intentions.
This is the fourth year for the event, which has steadily grown in size and popularity. OmT.O. was originally conceived to bring people from all walks of life together with Toronto's best yoga teachers to celebrate strength of body, mind and community.
Even if yoga isn’t your thing, you can just come and soak up the vibe of this beautiful urban setting. Our resident spinmaster DJ Medicineman is back to weave his ambient sonic groove. Our sponsors, vendors and samplers have all the food, drink, wares and goods you’ll need.
We asked our guests what we could do to improve upon one of everyone’s favourite events of the Summer. Among the suggestions, two stood out: have classes available for all ages and create a peaceful spot for meditation and contemplation. You asked and we answered!
Introducing for the first time, the OmT.O. Family Friendly Second Stage on Gristmill Lane in the Distillery District. Able to hold up to 100 guests, we’ve devised a full program of seven classes for all ages. In honour of Father’s Day we’ll have two “Daddy and Me” classes; one in the morning and one in the afternoon. There’ll also be specific prenatal yoga and postnatal yoga classes.
Curating and co-hosting the Second stage is Julie Watson of Afterglow Studio. This studio is located in the heart of the beaches neighborhood of Toronto, recently opened in June to a wave of very excited local yogis.
The studio’s concept from classes, studio design and manifesto was the dream coming true for owners Julie and co-owner Liz Doyle. They poured their hearts and souls into their studio, working in tandem through life with seven kids and a dog between them. Their positive and upbeat energy sets the tone for the cool and spacious studio, which maintains an open and welcoming vibe. With their focus on Vinyasa yoga, and HIIT style fitness classes, Julie and Liz created a place that provides possibility and potential for all levels. Their signature classes, taught by some of the most talented Toronto teachers are set to great music, with fun and challenging postures thrown in. www.afterglow.ca
Also introducing, for the first time, is the amazing Meditation Station, presented by Tonic Magazine and The Heartfulness Institute. Located just south of the main gates on Mill Street, the Meditation Station will be the spot for OmT.O. guests to mindfully reflect on their surroundings and the day. Ther Heartfulness Institute’s presence at OmT.O. aims to create awareness of their simple-to-practice method, so that guests may immediately experience the difference it brings about in one's consciousness, inner repose, and balance. Practice before or after OmT.O. classes.
It wouldn’t be a family friendly event without a few cartoon characters, right? Characters from Ice Age: Collision Course will be walking around the main area in between classes at OmT.O. to meet guests of all ages. 20th Century Fox & Blue Sky Studios present Ice Age: Collision Course, in theatres everywhere July 22, 2016. Starring Ray Romano, Queen Latifah, Keke Palmer, Jennifer Lopez, Jessie J, Neil de Grasse Tyson and many more.
They came… they thawed… they conquered the hearts of audiences everywhere in the coolest animated adventure of all time! Scrat’s epic pursuit of the elusive acorn catapults him into the universe where he accidentally sets off a series of cosmic events that transforms and threatens the Ice Age World. To save themselves, Sid, Manny, Diego, and the rest of the herd must leave their home and embark on a quest full of comedy and adventure, traveling to exotic new lands and encountering a host of colorful new characters.Check out all the fun at http://www.iceagemovies.com/ Tell us how excited you are for the newest Ice Age movie using #IceAge and #Collision Course
If you’re thirsty we have you covered. Flow will bring its complete and mindful hydration to Om T.O, providing mineral-rich, naturally alkaline spring water in an eco-friendly package to guests participating in the yogic celebration.
Founded by Canadian entrepreneur Nicholas Reichenbach, Flow launched in March 2015, as North America’s first-to-market socially responsibly, premium water brand. Committed to providing the highest quality water while maintaining holistic and sustainable business practices, Flow experienced explosive growth in its first year, cementing the brand as the environmental leader in the premium enhanced water category. Today Flow is listed at over 3,500 retailers across Canada. Flow’s naturally alkaline spring water is all-Canadian – sourced from southwestern Ontario.
“OmT.O. is a one-of-a-kind event in Toronto – promoting the pursuit of positive experience. That mindful positivity is what Flow is all about and we’re thrilled to be involved for the second year,” said Flow Water founder and CEO Nicholas Reichenbach. “OmT.O’s open format and inclusive mandate aligns with our founding principle of ensuring a positive impact on the world starting from the inside out. We believe that we are all connected and that every action taken should have a positive effect on the world around us.”
This spring/summer Flow will debut its “Mind, Body and Flow” campaign as the brand prepares to launch south of the border. The influencer-driven program will feature content by Toronto Blue Jay and reigning American League MVP Josh Donaldson as well as local fitness influencers, all culminating in an exclusive fitness training program.
“We’ll release strategic content every week both from Josh and other key influencers that encapsulate the Mind, Body and Flow lifestyle from training, being in your optimal state of performance, hydrating and diet,” said Reichenbach. “Furthermore, Canadians will have the opportunity to train with these influencers through the exclusive Flow fitness training program, mixing 45 minutes of circuit training with 45 minutes of yoga at pop-up locations in their cities.”
And although the brand will partner with Donaldson and celebrity trainers, at the core, Flow is all about ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Consumers across North America should stay tuned for new and upcoming ways Flow will seek to enhance their health and wellness. For more information visit www.flowlikewater.com.

THE HEARTFULNESS INSTITUTE
The Heartfulness Institute seeks to offer all humanity a simple and effective set of practices for relaxation, meditation, regulating the mind, and building inner strength and attitudes to create a lasting sense of fulfillment and overall well-being.
The Need: As our world is constantly going through changes, so are humans and their approaches to satisfying their basic needs. One such basic need, after food, clothing and shelter, is to achieve a sense of fulfillment and belonging. From time immemorial, humans have been searching for ways to meet this need. One means for self-fulfillment is to reach our ultimate potential, which seems to involve an individual quest towards a higher existence, beyond the mundane aspects of daily life.
Benefits of Heartfulness: Internal skills development such as clarity of mind, self‐confidence, empathy, awareness and focus are just a few of the benefits of Heartfulness relaxation and meditation. Our unique cleansing technique helps in liberating oneself from those hard to get rid of habits and tendencies. We also experience higher energy in our activities and a great sense of purpose and fulfillment. In a nutshell, it strengthens our strengths, weakens our weaknesses and makes us more holistic.
What the Heartfulness offers: Heartfulness offers a rich variety of simple, gradual relaxation and meditation solutions to help us solve our problems and be the best we can possibly be in all walks of life. Whether a teacher or a business executive, a student of science or art; whether a believer in God or an atheist, we can all pursue the path of fulfillment, excellence and perfection. While there may be many available means, Heartfulness is a certain approach to help any sincere seeker reach that state of being.
Heartfulness is a way of living by the voice of the heart. It is a simple set of practices which, when done daily, produces an immediate shift in the way we feel, and in the way we interact with others – our loved ones, colleagues, team members and even complete strangers. It also shifts the way we view ourselves and our role in our relationships, work, the environment, and the world at large. It brings about a sense of peace and true inner happiness that comes from being well grounded and centered.
The Organization: The Heartfulness Institute is part of the Sahaj Marg Spirituality Foundation, a non-profit organization founded in 1999 in the USA, with branches in India and several other countries. It is the sister organization of the Shri Ram Chandra Mission (SRCM), founded in 1945 and present in more than 110 countries, serving several million people with various wellness, self‐development and meditation tools. SRCM partners with the United Nations Department of Public Information worldwide to jointly propagate universal peace and harmony through yoga and meditation. SRCM, SMSF and the Heartfulness Institute are known for the Natural Path system of Raja Yoga and the Heartfulness relaxation, meditation and purification systems.
