Here we are at the start of another brand new year – and a chance for you to start afresh and create a brand new you. Even if you typically shun New Year’s resolutions, you have to admit the thoughts of making yourself just a wee bit better in 2014 occasionally creep into your consciousness. Many will be dusting off treadmills and venturing into the organic section in hopes of bolstering health, lowering cholesterol or dropping a pound or two – and we’re proud to say we believe wine can play an integral role in a balanced, healthy lifestyle. Here, we offer a few of our favourite pairings to healthy new menu items that may be making it to your dinner table this year.

Chances are going veggie means a lot more beans will be making their way into your diet, so consider pairing hearty bean-based dishes with an equally earthy Bordeaux blend.

Chicken is like the meat version of tofu and can be adapted to dish, spice or cooking method. We’re going to assume you’re going for grilled or roasted as opposed to fried, and that you’re pairing this protein-rich white meat with lots of veggies.

Love it or hate it, there’s no doubt many health warriors will be trying this caveman diet on for size. If a hearty helping of meat is hitting your plate, we suggest going with a dark dense red.
