As much as our skin thrives off the products we put on it every day, it should come as no surprise that great skin actually does start from within.  Skin health is impacted by your digestive health - what we put in our bodies is just as important as what we put on them.  

While maintaining a healthy diet is key to obtaining our daily dose of healthy vitamins and minerals for good overall health, one easy and delicious way to do it is through juicing.  

A great benefit to juicing is that you have the ability to juice a wide variety of fruits and vegetables that you wouldn’t normally enjoy eating whole.  Also when you drink juice, a high concentration of vitamins, minerals and enzymes rapidly enter the bloodstream and liver, resulting in skin that is fresh, dewy and beautiful.

There are key ingredients to look for when getting ready to embark on your own juicing journey.  These ingredients are excellent detoxifiers and help flush out toxins from your body, so that they don’t end up on your face in the form of breakouts.  Regardless of what issue you’re trying to tackle, there are some ingredients that are absolute juicing must-haves.

1) Carrots:  These delicious veggies are high in vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene, which is a super antioxidant that stops cell degeneration and helps maintain a youthful appearance.  Another great perk? Carrots carry a decent amount of vitamin C, which helps the body produce collagen.  Collagen is so important for skin elasticity and preventing wrinkles.   

2)  Leafy Greens:  Greens such as kale, parsley, bok choy and watercress are great ingredients to help clear and beautify your skin.    They’re all great sources of vitamins A, C and K, which help skin elasticity and speed up healing of wounds or scars.  Added bonus?  Vitamin K can help eliminate dark circles under your eyes!

3)  Turmeric:  Turmeric powder has been a go-to ingredient for centuries when it comes to skin care.  And why?  Because this earthy spice is an excellent detoxifier, helping to clean our your liver of any toxins.  It has amazing anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties that can help fight pimples and ease eczema.  Additionally, turmeric is effective in inhibiting activity in the sebaceous glands.  Not only can this be added to your next juice, but you can also mix together a turmeric face mask to apply directly onto your skin!

4)  Beets:  Beets are full of nutrients that are essential for healthy, glowing skin.  They're blood and liver cleansers, and when curing skin conditions, cleansing the body is key.  Beets are very powerful and potent, so it's best to never use an entire beet in one juice.  If you have kidney stones, don't drink juices with beets.  Beets are anti-inflammatory veggies that are rich in potassium, niacin, copper and vitamin C, in addition to manganese, magnesium, calcium, zinc and folic acid.
